I am a dual-qualified lawyer and chartered trade mark attorney with broad experience in both private practice and industry. I advise all types of clients from start-ups, SMEs, corporates and multinationals across a wide range of brands work and related aspects.
This includes global brand clearance and filing strategies as well as contested - and often multi-jurisdictional - actions (oppositions, revocations, invalidity proceedings); appeals; commercial coexistence agreements; infringement analyses and enforcement; portfolio management and rationalisation; due diligence; designs; company name disputes; domain name disputes; and general advisory work.
I have acted before tribunals including the UK IPO, the High Court and Court of Appeal, the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, the EUIPO and the General Court of the EU.
I was previously head of UK trade mark prosecution at a top-ranking international law firm and continue to work with longstanding clients.
I currently serve on the International Trademark Association's (INTA) Geographical Indications Committee. I have also served on other INTA committees - the Brands and Innovation Committee, the Related Rights Committee, and as Subcommittee Chair on INTA's Indigenous Rights Committee for 4 years.
It is partly through my involvement with INTA over many years that I have developed our trusted network of international contacts and attorneys.
I have written articles for a variety of publications including the Journal of IP Law & Practice, Trademark World, IP Magazine, World Intellectual Property Review, Lawyer Monthly and Computer Law & Security Report.
Outside intellectual property, my passions are history, including antiques, literature (I love a good book or several..) and the occasional "big cook".
