I am a dual-qualified lawyer and chartered trade mark attorney with broad experience in both private practice and industry. I advise all types of clients from start-ups, SMEs, corporates and multinationals across a wide range of brands work and related aspects.
This includes global brand clearance and filing strategies as well as contested - and often multi-jurisdictional - actions (oppositions, revocations, invalidity proceedings); appeals; commercial coexistence agreements; infringement analyses and enforcement; portfolio management and rationalisation; due diligence; company names disputes, general advisory work, designs and domain names.
I have acted before tribunals including the UK IPO, the High Court and Court of Appeal, the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, the EUIPO and the General Court of the EU.
I currently serve on INTA’s Geographical Indications Committee. I was previously a member of the Brands and Innovation Committee, the Related Rights Committee, and the Indigenous Rights Committee.
It is partly through my involvement with INTA over many years that I have developed our trusted network of international contacts and attorneys at Arcacious IP.
I have written articles for a variety of publications including the Journal of IP Law & Practice, Trademark World, IP Magazine, World Intellectual Property Review, Lawyer Monthly and Computer Law & Security Report.
Outside intellectual property, my passions are history, including antiques, literature (I love a good book or several..) and the occasional "big cook".

I am a dual-qualified lawyer, chartered trade mark attorney and IP consultant at Arcacious IP.
I advise our clients on the most cost-effective protection for their brands and designs, using the international registration systems and registered copyright protection. I am adept at negotiating settlements of conflicts, and have acted in contested actions before the UKIPO and domain name complaints before ICANN.
I regularly advise on the cross border enforcement of intellectual property rights, particularly in Asia. This has also led to my assisting clients with registration of their intellectual property rights (trade marks, designs and copyright) in numerous jurisdictions, often as worldwide filing programmes.
I have worked with clients in most sectors including finance, prepared foods, electronics, bedding, education and entertainment services.
I was a partner for 10+ years at a major patent and trade mark firm and spent time working in-house before joining Abida at Arcacious IP.
I was President of CITMA (the Chartered Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys) and through this experience and being a member of several INTA committees, have grown a wealth of international contacts, many of whom we work with at Arcacious IP.
Outside intellectual property, my passion is for anything French…
